D2 एक high carbon, high chromium tool steel ह।
इस cold work die steel भी कहा जाता ह।
इसम लगभग:
1.5% कारबन
12% करोमियम
होता ह।
D2 steel म:
Excellent wear resistance (घिसन स बचाव)
High hardness (60–62 HRC तक heat treatment क बाद)
Good dimensional stability
Corrosion resistance moderate रहती ह।
D2 Die Steel म कया-कया forms मिलत ह?
Rods (round bars) – 10 mm स लकर 200 mm तक की diameter म।
Sheets और plates – 5 mm स 100 mm तक की thickness म।
Flats और blocks – mold बनान म।
D2 Die Steel क उपयोग:
1⃣ Die और Punch बनान म:
Blanking dies
Forming dies
Punches और shear blades
Thread rolling dies
2⃣ Cutting Tools:
Knives और industrial cutters
Slitting cutters
Scrap choppers
3⃣ Plastic Molding Dies:
Long life क लिए plastic mold base बनान म उपयोग।
4⃣ Measuring tools:
Gauges और inspection tools
D2 Steel की विशषताए:
High Wear Resistance: लब समय तक घिसन स बचाव, frequent replacement की जररत नही।
High Hardness: Heat treatment क बाद कठोरता बढ जाती ह।
Good Dimensional Stability: Heat treatment क बाद size stable रहता ह।
Moderate corrosion resistance: Oil और lubrication रखन पर rust कम होता ह।
Machining: Annealed condition म machining अचछी होती ह।
Limitations:
Difficult to machine when hardened (hard condition म machining करना कठिन)।
Impact resistance A2 steel स कम होती ह, इसलिए heavy shock load applications क लिए उपयकत नही।
Welding करना मशकिल होता ह।
